Effect of the Location of Tracer Addition in a Ladle on the Mixing Time through Physical and Numerical Modeling

In the present work, release of tracer location on global mixing time in an agitated ladle furnace by gas bottom injection was analyzed. Then, a numerical multiphasic steel-slag-argon-air system prototype with capacity 150 tons carried out. The simulation validated using physical model 1/6 geometric scale colorant, KCl dispersion measurements techniques and open slag eye opening. Four different addition locations were strategically established to study influence releasing chemical homogenization. From results, it found that measurement times varies according addition, which greater extent is conditioned convective currents at some related turbulent viscosity.
